The MBA Module which forms an integral part of the International LLM includes Economics, Accounting, Strategic Management, Financial Management, Negotiation, Communication Skills and Human Resources.

The objective is to provide law students with broad knowledge of the fundamentals of business management and strategy, so that they will be better able to meet the needs of their future clients in business-related matters.

The IE Case Method used in the International LLM is probably unlike anything you have experienced before in a law classroom. Instead of listening passively to lectures, you will be faced with more than 500 practical case problems over the duration of the program, each one of which requires you and your team to solve a range of legal and business problems and draft the documents needed to achieve the objectives of your hypothetical client.

The IE Case Method is designed to replicate two years of professional practice in just 10 intensive months. In most cases, the problems are inspired by the professional experience of our faculty.

The LL.M. class represents a unique opportunity for you to network and share diverse backgrounds, points of view and cultures while working with lawyers trained in different legal systems.

On completion of your coursework, you may apply for an additional semester at one of our partner schools in the US, Latin America or Asia. Incoming exchange students from these schools also add to the diversity of your courses and group work in Madrid.

To be considered for admission, a candidate must have successfully completed the following, prior to submission:

• A Law degree from an accredited college/university (or equivalent).
• IE Admissions Test, LSAT or GMAT. The test result from one of these exams is a prerequisite for admission.
• A complete application for evaluation by the Admissions Committee, including all supporting documents.
• An English language certificate is required for all non-native English-speaking applicants (TOEFL, Pearson PTE Academic, IELTS, Cambridge Advanced, EOI). This requirement does not apply if you can demonstrate one of the following:
  • Two years work experience in an English speaking country.
  • Undergraduate degree completed in English.
  • English proficiency, through the admissions test and interview.

In any case, your English proficiency will also be evaluated during the Admissions Test and interview.

The demanding nature of the International LLM means that the large number of candidates are subject to a rigorous selection process. The main objective of the admissions process is to select students with the highest potential.

Candidates pay a non-refundable application fee of 125€, to cover administrative costs.

The tuition fees for the International LLM amount to €28,000 + €1,200 (contribution to the IE Foundation).

Admission is valid for two intakes, allowing the successful applicant up to two years to reserve a place on an intake, thus allowing students to plan their LL.M. experience. To reserve a place on the International LLM, students are required to make a deposit of €5,200.

IE Law School’s Financial Aid Department currently offers a host of loan agreements, scholarships and other financial aid options to help you fund your studies. We definitely recommend you apply for financing options as early as possible, as financial resources are limited and competition is high!

Once enrolled, IE’s Student Office is at your disposal to help you with all aspects of your move to Spain; from immigration and housing issues, to social events and support for your family or partner if they are joining you. The Student Office works towards making your IE Experience a smoother and an altogether more enjoyable one.

Your main point of contact with all the different departments part of your IE experience will be the Campus Online where all announcements from the Academic Department, the Student Office and other departments will be posted. Once you have access, don’t forget to check it regularly!
